Making Historical Data Work: The STUDIUM.AI Research Infrastructure

This presentation provides a behind-the-scenes look at my workflows for importing historical data into STUDIUM.AI, a research infrastructure which brings together digital resources on the premodern University of Leuven (1425-1797). Drawing on my experiences as a historian and data manager, it discusses the practical challenges of processing, cleaning, standardizing and importing data from diverse sources such as library catalogues, research databases, etc. Particular attention is paid to workflow documentation and reproducibility, tool selection, and the realities of working with imperfect historical data.
