KALEIDOS Knowledge Valorisation Policy Brief - Ecosystem Level

Description

This policy brief presents recommendations for strengthening knowledge valorisation (KV) through more coordinated, inclusive, and sustainable collaboration within Quadruple Helix ecosystems. Drawing on four participatory workshops involving 47 participants from academia, industry, public authorities, and civil society across four European ecosystems, it identifies key challenges related to fragmented collaboration, limited coordination, and the absence of shared monitoring and evaluation frameworks. The brief proposes five recommendations addressing the roles of universities, civil society, public authorities, and the private sector, alongside the establishment of permanent ecosystem coordination structures. These recommendations aim to facilitate stakeholder engagement, improve access to collaboration opportunities, strengthen knowledge co-creation, and establish common indicators and learning mechanisms to support long-term innovation impact.

This publication is part of a series of three KALEIDOS policy briefs, addressing recommendations at the University Level, European Union Level, and Ecosystem Level. An accompanying Policy Recommendations Booklet provides an extended version of the recommendations, including further analysis, supporting evidence, and contextual information.

This policy brief was developed within the KALEIDOS project (funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement No 101132079).
