KALEIDOS Knowledge Valorisation Policy Brief - University Level
Description
This policy brief presents recommendations for embedding knowledge valorisation (KV) and Open Science practices into university strategies, governance structures, and institutional processes. Drawing on four participatory workshops conducted at KALEIDOS partner universities and a review of European research and innovation policies, it identifies key gaps in institutional coordination, recognition, and evaluation of knowledge valorisation activities. The brief proposes four recommendations: institutionalising knowledge valorisation through integrated strategies and support structures; standardising tools for collaboration; adopting shared indicators linking institutional performance with individual career recognition; and establishing periodic self-assessment and review mechanisms. These recommendations aim to support universities in moving from fragmented, individual-driven practices towards sustainable, institution-wide approaches to knowledge valorisation.
This publication is part of a series of three KALEIDOS policy briefs, addressing recommendations at the University Level, European Union Level, and Ecosystem Level. An accompanying Policy Recommendations Booklet provides an extended version of the recommendations, including further analysis, supporting evidence, and contextual information.
This policy brief was prepared by Silvia Poli and Azzurra Meoli, from consortium member University of Bologna (UNIBO) of the KALEIDOS project (funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement No 101132079).
