Description

Human responsibility cannot be reduced either to compliance with established obligations or to fidelity to personal conviction. Both individuals and institutions can recognize genuine demands of responsibility, and both can misunderstand the realities to which they respond. This essay develops a philosophy of syntropic praxis in which conscience is understood as a situated, fallible, and cultivable capacity for recognition and judgment. Its exercise depends on disciplined attention, public inquiry, legitimate authority, the claims of others, and responsiveness to consequences. Through encounters with fallibilism, social epistemology, practical wisdom, conscientious objection, civil resistance, epistemic injustice, and artificial intelligence, the essay argues that corrigibility must be cultivated personally and organized institutionally. Syntropic praxis names neither a privileged form of conduct nor a guarantee of moral truth, but an orientation toward more coherent, justifiable, and responsible participation in shared reality.
