Description
Wavelet Synthesizer is a polyphonic synthesizer that shapes sound with the discrete wavelet transform instead of Fourier filters.
Each note plays one cycle of 2048 samples, decomposed by a periodic orthogonal DWT into 11 octave-spaced bands; each band is resynthesised into its own band-limited wavetable layer, and every voice mixes the layers with per-band gains at audio rate.
Engine A (wavelet subtractive) shapes a classic waveform in the scale domain: a scale filter (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, reject, resonance, envelope), a sparsity control that keeps only the strongest wavelet atoms, and a position window that confines the filtering to part of the cycle. Engine B (wavelet additive) builds the cycle from wavelet atoms: a coefficient pattern, 11 drawbars and a per-band scale envelope. Both engines can be mixed (A/B mix).
Wavelets: Haar, Daubechies 2/4/8/20, Symlet 8, Coiflet 3. Available as a dependency-free web application and as a VST3/VST2 instrument for Windows x64 (one self-contained DLL), with 107 factory presets.
