Improving plant growth and resilience in organic greenhouses: micorrhizal fungi inoculation
Authors/Creators
Description
Problem
Limited options available to reverse declining soil fertility in organic greenhouse production cause lower yields and reduced farm profitability.
Solution
Soil inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) (Figure 1) enhances nutrient uptake and improves the stress tolerance in plants.
Benefits
AMF inoculation can increase crop yields by 10-25% while reducing the need for phosphorus fertilisers up to 30-50%. It promotes plant stress tolerance and improves produce quality.
