Abstract

Two novel models for fine-scaled positioning will be presented (i) population Monte Carlo time-of-arrival (PMC-TOA), and (ii) extended Kalman time-of-arrival (EK-TOA). PMC-TOA is a robust method shown to give good positions even in the presence of reflected transmissions, while EK-TOA provides a closed form solution for extremely fast processing of large time-of-arrival datasets. Additionally, a simple method will be shown for reporting absolute measures of positioning error which can be applied to any positioning model. Combined with YAPS, the suite of positioning methods makeup a versatile processing toolbox for fine-scale positioning.
