Testing the Performance of Low-cost, Temporary Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Solutions
Authors/Creators
Description
This report presents the results of independent testing of a range of temporary flood protection measures that can be used to reduce water entering buildings through doorways during flooding. The testing compared traditional sandbags, synthetic sandless sandbags, adhesive tape solutions and proprietary flood barriers to understand how well they prevent water ingress and how practical they are for real-world use. The findings show that performance varies considerably between products, with some low-cost measures providing levels of protection comparable to much more expensive alternatives. The report provides evidence-based guidance to help householders, communities and flood risk professionals make informed decisions about temporary property flood resilience measures.
