Prevention and control of grey mould (Botrytis cinerea) in tomato greenhouse production

Authors/Creators

  • 1. Delphy

Description

Problem
Grey mould causes stem, leaf and fruit lesions (Figure 1 and 2), resulting in plant wilting and yield loss. Infection, favored by high RH and temperatures of 15–24°C, occurs rapidly via fungal spores in wounds.

Solution
An integrated approach combining proper pruning techniques, greenhouse climate control (ventilation, air movement, dehumidification) and preventive treatments reduces infection risk.

Benefits
Investments in skilled labour and greenhouse climate steering ensure effective protection.
