This research paper presents a conceptual analysis of the relationship between Self, identity, ego, and Maya from the perspective of Advaita Vedanta. It develops an author-proposed Three-Layer Obstruction Model to examine why individuals may come to regard their present identity as the final boundary of their possibilities.

The model consists of three layers: Identity as Wall, Ahamkara as Door, and Maya as Lock. Identity creates a limited definition of the self; ego protects that identity; and Maya presents the limited experience as the complete reality.

The study does not claim infinite potential as an empirical fact. Instead, it treats it as a metaphysical premise within Advaita Vedanta and establishes a comparative dialogue with Social Identity Theory and Fixed Mindset. The proposed model is not presented as a direct doctrine of classical Advaita Vedanta, but as an original conceptual and metaphorical framework developed by the author.
