Description

This report reviews the editorial and bibliometric performance of the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease (JAD) from its founding in 1998 through August 2026. It covers trends from 2020 to 2026 in manuscripts received and accepted, uptake of optional open access, and time from submission to first decision. It also covers the 2025 Journal Impact Factor (3.4) and 5-year Impact Factor, and the distribution of authorship and readership across world regions. The citation analysis includes 40,756 citations to JAD in 2025, the top 20 journals citing JAD, the ten most-cited JAD articles of all time and of 2025, and article viewership from 2022 to 2026, including the rise in readership after the move to the Sage Journals platform. The report also summarizes 2026 special issues, the companion Journal of Alzheimer's Disease Reports, and the 2026 Mark A. Smith Alzheimer Award article on sex differences in tau, astrocytic and neurodegenerative plasma biomarkers.
