Description

Orgone Energy Bulletin, Vol. 1, No. 2, 1949, published under the direction of Wilhelm Reich, M.D., is presented here as a complete compiled journal issue. Sourced directly from the Reich Archive West Microfilm collection, this second issue documents milestone breakthroughs in experimental orgone physics—including historical X-ray photographic tracking of the excited orgonotic energy field of the palms—alongside critical challenges to classical thermodynamic theory, preserved and disseminated as part of an active historical preservation project.

Provenance and Historical Source

This material originates from the historical Reich Orgone Archive / Reich Archive West preservation and microfilm project devoted to preserving and disseminating the published works of Wilhelm Reich, M.D.

Historical microfilm documentation records that Eva Reich Moise, M.D., produced the original silver-base microfilm masters in 1957 at Rangeley, Maine, with the assistance of William Moise. Eva Reich is identified as Compiler and Project Consultant, and Harold Treacy as Production Co-ordinator.

The subsequent microfilm operation was sponsored by the Reich Orgone Archive, with surviving documentation identifying the project with Reich Archive West, San Francisco, 1973.

The United States National Library of Medicine (NLM) independently documents the historical existence of Reich Archive West. The Aurora Karrer Reich Collection (MS C 580) contains an archival item specifically catalogued:

“Reich Archive West – year index and automatic title finder, 1975”

Box 2, Folder 19 — Creation: 1975

National Library of Medicine - Reich Archive West

The present digital reproduction forms part of the documented historical transmission and preservation of Wilhelm Reich's published materials through the Reich Orgone Archive / Reich Archive West preservation project.

This provenance information is provided to document the historical chain of preservation and reproduction associated with the material and to assist researchers in understanding its archival history.

Summary

This document discusses the principles of orgone physics, criticisms of conventional thermodynamics, and their implications for science and medicine.

Overarching Concepts of Orgone Physics and Energy

  • Orgone energy is a universal, measurable cosmic energy permeating Earth, living and not living organisms.
  • It influences electromagnetic phenomena and biological functions.
  • Wilhelm Reich's experiments revealed orgone's role in preventing light and X-ray penetration in photographic plates.
  • The concept opposes traditional thermodynamics, especially the second law and entropy, proposing that energy can accumulate and reverse decay.

Critique of Second Law of Thermodynamics

  • The second law states that entropy always increases, leading to eventual universal chaos.
  • Wilhelm Reich's orgone accumulator causes energy to accumulate, contradicting this law.
  • The law presumes that heat cannot spontaneously flow from cold to hot, but orgone accumulators disprove it.
  • These observations suggest thermodynamics' limitations in explaining complex biological or energy phenomena.

Biological and Medical Implications of Orgone Energy

  • Orgone energy sustains life, and its stagnation causes neurotic, muscular, and biological pathology.
  • Symptoms like neurosis, character armor, and sexual repression are linked to stagnation of orgone energy.

Experimental Evidence and Applications

  • Orgone experiments include blocking X-ray and light penetration using orgone fields.
  • Orgone accumulators increase orgone energy in organisms, leading to health improvements.
  • Therapy involves physical manipulations and energetic discharge to overcome character armor.
  • Applied to medicine, orgone therapy aims to treat neuroses, physical illnesses, and emotional conflicts.

Ethical and Legal Issues

  • Wilhelm Reich’s Work faced legal actions in the United States, leading to his imprisonment and the destruction of his Work by fire.
  • Claims about orgone accumulation causing energy to “appear from nowhere” challenge legal principles.
  • Medical and scientific authorities often attempt to suppress or discredit orgone research.
  • Nevertheless, proponents argue for scientific openness and practical applications.

The Role of Orgone in Cosmology and Society

  • Orgone physics aims to explain life processes, cosmic evolution, and societal health.
  • It suggests that energy accumulation can reverse decay and promote growth.
  • The movement advocates for scientific and social reform based on orgone principles.
  • There is a call for integrating orgone theory into broader philosophical and scientific worldviews.

Criticism of Current Scientific and Medical Paradigms

  • Conventional physics rely on classical laws, which are viewed as incomplete or incorrect.
  • Medical practices neglect energetic aspects of health, focusing on symptoms rather than root causes.
  • The document promotes a holistic, energetic understanding of health and disease.
  • It calls for a scientific revolution to incorporate orgone energy into mainstream science.

Summary of Criticism and Defense of Reich’s Work

  • Critics dismiss Reich’s physics and therapy as pseudoscience; supporters see revolutionary insights.
  • The document defends Reich’s experiments and energy theories as scientifically valid.
  • The opposition is viewed as driven by ideological bias, fear, and suppression.
  • Advocates urge for open scientific inquiry into orgone phenomena, rejecting censorship.

The Future of Orgone Research and Application

  • The movement aims to expand energy-based medicine and scientific understanding.
  • It calls for a unified, responsible effort to protect and develop orgone science.
  • Continued research is encouraged despite opposition, emphasizing practical health benefits.
  • The ultimate goal is societal and biological evolution through orgone energy mastery.

Notes

This project exists to shatter the obscurity surrounding the original works and documents of Wilhelm Reich, M.D.—the pioneer who discovered The Orgone, Earth's vital Life Energy Radiation.

It is absolutely paramount that an honest, uncompromising, and unfettered intellectual exploration of Reich’s legacy be energetically pursued.

The very trajectory of human and planetary evolution hangs in the balance.

Technical Notes, Image Optimisation Cautions & Project Scope

Archival Condition & Scanning Status:

The current visual status of these digital reproductions is the direct result of manual operations executed under a historical lack of modern technical aids during the period when the scans were originally performed.

Meticulous Preservation Vigilance Warning:

While numerous contemporary options exist for sharpening, filtering, and increasing the legibility of these images, future researchers and digital archivists must maintain strict, meticulous vigilance if these copies are submitted to any automated online enhancement services or optical character recognition (OCR) platforms.

Because the central subject matter—the Orgone, or Life Energy's Radiation—functions as an extraordinary, indivisible dynamic unity holding the entire text together as a single Entity, the transformation or alteration of even a single word completely nullifies the integrity of the entire Volume.

All text optimisation must prioritise absolute fidelity over superficial digital clarity.
