Description
This paper will explore barriers and enablers of investment planning among women faculty members in higher education institutions in Rajasthan. Although most women are well educated and professionally stable, many of them find it difficult to make decisions concerning investments. The primary research method was used to gather data in 400 respondents using structured questionnaire with random sampling. Results have shown that financial knowledge is the greatest obstacle followed closely by education as a factor in determining the financial wellbeing (H1). The other limitations are family duties, fear of losing money and lack of disposable income. Another major relationship that is found in the study is that there is a significant relationship between societal expectations and perceived discrimination in investment decisions (H2). On the positive side, investment behaviour financial literacy and stable income are the main facilitators of regular investment planning (H3). The authors of the research arrive at a conclusion that targeted interventions can be used to empower women faculty in order to make informed decisions about investments.
