Description
This Facilitator's Handbook provides stepwise instructions for organizing a two-day interactive co-creation workshop that brings together agri-food system stakeholders to design inclusive, sustainable business models based on agroecology, termed System Business Models (SysBM). Day 1 works with marginalized stakeholders (farmer representatives, including women and youth) to identify values and priorities, cluster them, formulate value propositions, and map stakeholder relationships. Day 2 brings all stakeholders together, including government, NGOs, market actors, development partners and consumers, to present Day 1 results, co-create SysBMs, and develop strategy and action plans. The handbook includes detailed session plans, facilitation principles and hints, materials lists, and ready-to-use canvases (Value Mapping Canvas, Value Proposition Matrix, Stakeholder Mapping Canvas, Action Matrix). The method was tested in Benin with URBANE partner Université d'Abomey-Calavi. It is accompanied by eight instructional videos on the URBANE project YouTube channel.
This handbook is an output of the EU Horizon Europe project URBANE: "One Health approaches to support agroecological transformation of peri-urban farming" (HORIZON-CL6-2021-FARM2FORK-01-18, Grant Agreement No. 101059232).
