Beyond Post-Quantum Cryptography Physical, Biological and Cyberpunk Forks of Information Security, 2027–2035 A Predictive Idea Note
Description
LinkedIn cluster circulating in late August 2026, anchored by Keith King's warning that quantum computing will force a fundamental reset of cybersecurity, restates the now-standard post-quantum cryptography (PQC / PPQC) programme: harvest-now-decrypt-later (HNDL) risk, inventory, crypto-agility, and migration to NIST FIPS 203–205 primitives. That programme is correct and late. It is also incomplete. Quantum security will not be exhausted by quantum-resistant mathematics, nor even by quantum key distribution. Once a cryptographically relevant quantum computer is treated as a planning fact rather than a distant research object, information seeks other bodies. This note contrasts the PQC reset with leading theories — Mosca's inequality, QKD and quantum networks, hardware isolation, cryptographic provenance, molecular archival science, and living-neuron computation — and argues that the archive itself will fork into physical, chemical and biological media. Data centres will cease to be a single architectural species. Cyberpunk conditions of the Neuromancer type, especially curbed rather than total wars over access to infrastructure, are treated as operationally plausible from 2027 and as a structural feature of livelihood by 2030–2035. The author's earlier perpetual-horizon and near-dated Q-Day line (c. August 2027 as a forcing date) is retained as a governance tempo, not as a hardware prophecy. C S K
