The Architect of Becoming: Consciousness, Chaos and the Logos of the Trinity
Authors/Creators
Description
This paper articulates The Architecture of Becoming, an integrative framework uniting active inference, ecological psychology, depth psychology, and metaphysical theology. Contemporary models of cognition frequently struggle to bridge the computational mechanics of perception with high-level existential frameworks of meaning, agency, and teleology. To address this gap, I map human perception, action, and sense-making by integrating Karl Friston’s Free Energy Principle (FEP), James J. Gibson’s theory of affordances, Carl Jung’s archetypal structures, and a Trinitarian ontological model centered on the Logos.
I demonstrate that active inference—the process through which self-organizing systems minimize variational free energy to maintain organizational integrity—provides the formal computational baseline for embodied sense-making. However, to account for how agents navigate complex, high-uncertainty environments, these predictive processes must operate over structured landscapes of action possibilities (affordances). I argue that Jungian archetypes function as deep, invariant generative priors that condition the perception of affordances when an agent confronts noise, chaos, and existential ambiguity. Finally, I situate this cognitive architecture within a broader metaphysical framework, proposing that the ultimate coherence, teleological direction, and relational grounding of human agency are underwritten by a Trinitarian Logos topology.
By synthesizing predictive processing with existential ontology, this work offers a unified model of how conscious agents navigate uncertainty, construct meaning, and participate in the continuous process of becoming.
