Human-AI Cognitive Reasoning Curriculum: Origin, Scope, and Branch Architecture within Human-AI Cognitive Development
Authors/Creators
Description
This conceptual structural contribution introduces Human-AI Cognitive Reasoning Curriculum as an authored curriculum direction within Marina A. Popova’s Human-AI Cognitive Development work. It defines Human-AI Cognitive Reasoning Curriculum as a structure-first educational and applied reasoning pathway for developing human reasoning, cognitive clarity, authorship preservation, and responsible co-thinking beside artificial intelligence systems.
The contribution begins from a structural distinction: Human-AI reasoning does not begin with AI capability alone. It begins with the human cognitive source whose reasoning is to be preserved, supported, and developed. From this source, reasoning development requires Possibility and Support, but Possibility and Support are not sufficient unless they enter a viable relation. A one-sided pathway in which AI thinks for the human may produce output, but it does not constitute Human-AI Cognitive Development. Human-AI Cognitive Reasoning Curriculum therefore identifies co-thinking as the viable relation through which artificial cognition may support human reasoning without replacing human judgment.
The contribution also distinguishes Human-AI Cognitive Reasoning Curriculum from generic AI literacy, prompt engineering, productivity training, automation onboarding, agent-use instruction, and outsourcing cognition to artificial systems. It introduces a minimum inclusion test for identifying whether an activity, lesson, method, program, or institutional application belongs to this curriculum architecture.
The branch architecture includes Third Organism Cognitive Reasoning Curriculum, early childhood education, school applications, colleges, technical colleges / technicums, universities, institutions, founders, and SME applications. These branches are not presented as ownership claims over all education, AI literacy, reasoning curricula, or AI use. They are defined as named applications within the authored Human-AI Cognitive Development direction.
The purpose of this note is to record the origin, scope, terminology, and branch architecture of Human-AI Cognitive Reasoning Curriculum for citation, provenance, future development, and responsible public use.
