Description
The powerpoint slides from a plenary talk at the 14th Congress of the South African Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, delivered in January, 1997 by Richard Jefferson.
This presentation reinterates the hologenome theory of evolution first presented in 1994, and explicitly described the microbiota-mediated hormone modulation as a key component of vertebrate biology and evolution, and the strategy of 'ecotherapeutics' to improve system performance by adjusting population structures of the microbial components of the holobiont or larger system.
