A Data and Information Sharing Guide (Infographic) — For Frontline Workers

Authors/Creators

Description

Use this summary when you need a quick, practical orientation to what helps frontline staff share information confidently and safely. This one-page version of the frontline workers guide distils how training, tools and everyday practice interact for people supporting care-experienced children and young people, and identifies where clearer guidance and better methods would help you know the ‘green lights’: what you can share, with whom and why. It draws on the project’s evidence across the legal, cultural and technical barriers to information sharing in Scotland’s public sector. Use its reflection questions to examine your own information sharing practice, building on the principle that sharing the right information at the right time helps people get support sooner.

This resource was produced by Urban Foresight as part of the Information Sharing Project, in collaboration with Data for Children Collaborative and The Promise Scotland. The project explored the legal, cultural and technical barriers to information sharing relating to care-experienced children, young people and their families across public sector agencies and organisations in Scotland.

The authors acknowledge the generosity of the funders of this work - the Scottish Funding Council - who, through the Data for Children Collaborative, support exploratory research for social good.

The Data for Children Collaborative is a specialist unit at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, part of the University of Edinburgh.
