SOCIAL SUPPORT PRACTICES FOR FAMILIES RAISING CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES
Authors/Creators
Description
Families raising children with disabilities often face complex financial, educational, healthcare, employment, psychological and social challenges. Modern social protection policy increasingly recognizes that support should be directed not only to the child but also to the family as the main environment for development and inclusion. This article examines international approaches to supporting families raising children with disabilities, focusing particularly on Australia and Canada. The analysis uses recent official statistics and policy documents published by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Statistics Canada and the Canada Revenue Agency.
