Formulation & Evaluation of Herbal Hair Serum containing Rosemary oil

Hair loss is a common cosmetic concern influenced by genetic, nutritional, environmental, and physiological factors. The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate a herbal hair growth serum containing rosemary oil as the main active ingredient. The formulation consisted of rosemary oil, vitamin E, rose water, polysorbate 20, and propylene glycol. The serum was prepared by solubilization and mixing of the oil and aqueous phases, followed by filtration and filling. The prepared formulation was evaluated for physical appearance, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, spreadability, clarity, and microbial count. The serum showed a slightly translucent appearance with a characteristic odor, pH of 5.73, specific gravity of 0.9947, good spreadability, and a viable microbial count of 0.5 CFU/mL. Overall, the formulated herbal serum demonstrated satisfactory physicochemical and microbiological characteristics and may provide a convenient plant-based approach for scalp and hair care. Further studies are required to confirm its long-term stability and hair growth efficacy.
