Bibliographic Dataset of Translations in Four Slovak Periodicals: Aspekt (1993–2004), Kapitál (2017–2024), Revue svetovej literatúry (1995–2015), and Verzia (2020–2024)

This dataset provides bibliographic metadata on translations published in four Slovak literary and cultural periodicals: Aspekt (1993–2004), Kapitál (2017–2024), Revue svetovej literatúry (1995–2015), and Verzia (2020–2024). These periodicals represent two different types of publication: Revue svetovej literatúry and Verzia are primarily devoted to translated literature, while Aspekt and Kapitál are cultural-political periodicals in which translation forms part of a broader editorial programme. The chronological coverage and original principles of data collection are documented in the project methodology.

The dataset contains 6,986 unique bibliographic records. It is supplied in a long-format structure comprising 14,414 rows and 31 columns. Individual bibliographic items are linked through a unique Record ID. Metadata include information on the periodical and publication location, authors and translators, source and target languages, titles, text type and other bibliographic and analytical variables. The underlying methodology was designed to support quantitative analysis of source-language distribution, translation authorship, literary and non-literary content, and comparisons across periods and periodical types.

The dataset is an expanded and enriched version of the four bibliographic datasets first published on Zenodo in December 2024. It consolidates the data into a single structured resource and incorporates subsequent data cleaning, checking and enrichment undertaken during the project Information flows and zones of resistance: Translation in Slovak cultural and literary periodicals since the 1990s.
