European Dataset of EU AI Act Implementation: National Competent Authorities and Governance Models Across EU/EEA Member States

This dataset provides an empirical mapping of national regulatory authorities under the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act) across 30 European jurisdictions (27 EU Member States and 3 EEA countries). It was developed at the ADAPT Research Centre (Trinity College Dublin) within the FORSEE project, it catalogs 72 regulatory bodies, including National Competent Authorities (Art. 70), Market Surveillance Authorities (Art. 74), and Notifying Authorities (Art. 28). Backed by primary legal sources in 84.5% of cases, the database classifies national implementations into Federated (66.7%), Centralised (26.7%), and Pending/Undefined (6.6%) governance models.
