D5.4 - Pilot site plan and deployment report

This deliverable presents the work carried out within the InterPED project to support the planning, design and implementation of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs), with a particular focus on the methodologies, tools and approaches developed for the project’s pilot communities.

The deliverable describes the methodological framework applied to assess energy-related characteristics, requirements and opportunities at district level and to support informed decision-making for the transition towards positive energy performance. It considers the integration and coordinated operation of renewable energy sources, building energy systems, storage, flexibility solutions and other distributed energy resources, while taking into account the specific characteristics and needs of the InterPED demonstration sites.

The work contributes to establishing a structured basis for evaluating PED configurations and identifying suitable pathways for improving energy performance, renewable energy integration, self-consumption and self-sufficiency. The methodologies and results presented are intended to support both the implementation activities of the InterPED pilots and the broader replication of PED solutions in other European districts and communities.

Overall, the deliverable contributes to InterPED’s objective of enabling more integrated, flexible and data-driven approaches to the planning and operation of Positive Energy Districts and supporting their contribution to the transition towards climate-neutral cities.
