ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE FUTURE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IN HOSPITALITY

Authors/Creators

Description

The rapid advancement and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across service industries have significantly transformed job structures, skill requirements, and customer engagement models.
The hospitality industry traditionally centered on human interaction, warmth, and personalized service, is undergoing a major transformation through the adoption of AI-powered customer service technologies. Applications such as chatbots, virtual concierges, smart reservation systems, predictive analytics, and automated service platforms are increasingly being used to enhance operational efficiency and improve guest experiences.
This paper examines the evolution of jobs in the AI era, with a specific focus on AI-powered customer service in the hospitality sector. It explores the opportunities created by AI, including improved service speed, enhanced personalization, cost efficiency, and the emergence of new technology-driven roles. At the same time, the study highlights key challenges, including job displacement fears, skill gaps among employees, ethical concerns related to data privacy, and the potential erosion of the human touch that defines hospitality services.
AI should be viewed not as a replacement for human labor but as a transformative force that reshapes existing roles and responsibilities. As routine and repetitive tasks become automated, hospitality professionals are increasingly required to focus on emotional intelligence, creativity, problem-solving, and relationship management.
The research further stresses the importance of continuous up-skilling to prepare the workforce for AI-enabled environments. The study concludes that the sustainable and effective integration of AI in hospitality depends on a balanced approach that combines technological innovation with human-centric service values. By strategically aligning AI adoption with workforce development and ethical practices, the hospitality industry can ensure long-term growth, improved customer satisfaction, and meaningful employment opportunities in the evolving world of work.
