Slayer of Debate Critical Theory: Putting Theory Into Action Avoids Distraction by Abstraction Justifying Inaction

Description

In competitive academic debate formats, critics to reject the proposition totally quote authors in false juxtaposition to create a false dichotomy between the plan's reaction and a scholarship credibility reduction. One cannot assert that broader oppressive structures exist and demand that the affirmative rethink first, without a feasible opportunity cost that interested readers facing the harm could use. First, all quoted evidence — including critical theory — functions as a lens, not a gateway; each debater decides what to take from it. Second, a generalized 'the system is doomed' claim does not warrant rejecting concrete action; risk of systemic failure is not a certainty of it. Last, action and critical reflection are concurrent, not sequential processes.
