The half-life of a social norm: decay after enforcement removal in artificial agents
Description
This archive accompanies the manuscript Arbitrary is not a natural kind: discipline without
the disciplined (C. Choi, Cornell University; under review). It contains the complete code, run outputs, analysis pipelines, and dated prespecification notes needed to reproduce every figure, table, and quoted statistic in the paper.
Reproducibility
The JAX substrate is verified bit-exact against the NumPy oracle before any scientific run. All endpoint statistics are means over the final 100 updates of the relevant phase, as specified in the manuscript's Materials and Methods. Environment manipulations (taboo set, penalty, bonus, berry count, enforcement gating, weight freezing) are flags that are bit-exact no-ops at their defaults.
