Kohls, G.M. & Clifford, C.M. (1962) Ixodes tiptoni, a new species of tick from Panama (Acarina – Ixodidae). Journal of Parasitology, 48, 182–184.

Type depository: USNTC: holotype (female) and paratypes (females, nymphs and larvae)

Type locality: Bambito, Province of Chiriquí, Panama

Type host: Sciurus granatensis chiriquensis
