Type depository: USNTC: neotype (male) (Nava et al. 2018)

Type locality: Montpellier, France

Type host: the holotype specimen was collected from the wall of a kennel Comments: Rhipicephalus sanguineus was originally named Ixodes sanguineus, but the neotype was described under the former name.
