Type locality: Gallia
Type host: unknown
Current status: a synonym of Rhipicephalus sanguineus and its original name, as discussed in Nava et al. (2018). The current status of Ixodes sanguineus, as Rhipicephalus sanguineus, was established by Koch (1844).
Comments: a neotype of this species was designated under the name Rhipicephalus sanguineus by Nava et al. (2018).
