Type depositories: IBU: syntypes (males and females) (Barros-Battesti & Knysak 1999); Keirans & Clifford (1984) listed a syntype named as “cotype” (unspecified developmental stage) deposited in the USNTC

Type locality: Cotia, São Paulo, Brazil

Type host: Mazama simplicicornis

Current status: a synonym of Ixodes fuscipes, as discussed in Labruna et al. (2020).

Comments: Keirans & Clifford (1984) erroneously listed the specimen of Ixodes ricinus aragaoi deposited in the USNTC as a synonym of Ixodes affinis.
