Type depository: USNTC: a neotype (male) was designated by Nava et al. (2014a)

Type locality: Montalbó hiking trail, Cayenne, French Guiana

Type host: the holotype specimen was collected from vegetation

Comments: this species was originally named Acarus cajennensis, but the neotype was described under the name Amblyomma cajennense.
