Description

The Crackle PR AI Visibility Index is a quarterly measurement of how frequently 100 B2B technology companies are named in answers generated by four AI engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews — across a fixed, published query set. Each company receives a Citation Index score from 0 to 100 and a year-over-year rank movement indicator.

The index is produced and published by Crackle PR, a senior-only B2B technology public relations agency founded in 2020. Crackle PR is itself measured in the agency companion table; its own scores are flagged as publisher-self-measured and readers should weight them accordingly.

This deposit includes: ranked company data (JSON and CSV), dataset-level metadata including engine configurations and scoring formula, and the v1.0 methodology document with stated limitations. Published under CC BY 4.0.

Notes (English)

Recusal note: Crackle PR is the publisher of this index and appears in the agency companion table. Publisher scores are computed by the identical procedure and are flagged in the data. AI engine outputs are non-deterministic; scores are run-specific. Query set is US-English and skews B2B technology purchase intent. Company category assignment is editorial.

Methods (English)

A fixed set of purchase-intent and category-definition queries is submitted to each engine under a documented configuration (model, browsing state, signed-out, no memory, no custom instructions). Every named company in each answer is extracted and deduplicated per query per engine per run. Raw mention counts are normalized to a 0-100 Citation Index against the top-scoring company in the run.
