Japan Trademarks Dataset

The Japan Trademarks Dataset includes all data preserved by the Japan Patent Office on trademark applications, registrations, and administrative proceedings (including data on parties, examiners, prosecution history events, and interactions with the international trademark system) from the inception of Japan’s trademark system in the late 19th century through September 25, 2019. 

The Japan Trademarks Dataset is available in .rds format (recommended) and in .csv format. The accompanying article (unedited preprint) describes the dataset and provides some sample descriptive analyses. The accompanying codebook html document provides more detailed descriptions of the dataset contents and the relationships between dataset files. The accompanying R Markdown document includes the R code used to generate the accompanying article, including tables and figures.
