Global Charity Register Transparency Index 2026 (Edition 1)
Description
This index scores the official charity and nonprofit registers of 76 countries on how open, machine-readable, and information-rich they are. It does not score charities; it scores governments and the register infrastructure they run. Six countries reach 100/100 (Australia, Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, New Zealand, United States). Wealth does not predict openness: several Middle Eastern and North African registers outscore Germany. Every scored cell carries an official source URL and retrieval date (2026-08-05). Research was performed by AI research agents under the published methodology with an independent audit; in-country verification and editorial decisions by the human lead researcher. Files: report PDF, dataset CSV, methodology, independent audit findings, and an evidence pack with retrieval-dated captures for registers not reachable from outside their own country.
