Authors/Creators
Description
The 1st International Workshop on Renewable Energies: Advances, Challenges, and
Global Perspectives, organized by the RIBIERSE-CYTED network, provided an
academic forum for discussion and exchange focused on analyzing the main scientific,
technological, and social advances related to the transition to sustainable energy
systems. The RIBIERSE-CYTED network held this workshop virtually on July 1 and
2, 2026, bringing together researchers, energy sector professionals, institutional
representatives, and stakeholders interested in the development, integration, and
consolidation of renewable energies in local, regional, and global contexts.
The contributions presented in the proceedings book highlight the diverse approaches
in the field of renewable energy. The included papers cover a range of topics, including
the operation and maintenance of renewable energy plants, the application of artificial
intelligence and computational tools for energy optimization, the design of microgrids,
and energy communities supported by renewable technologies and storage.
Additionally, they address the social, regulatory, and legislative factors that have
influenced the implementation of cleaner, more resilient, and equitable energy models.
This volume brings together contributions that emphasize the necessity of integrating
scientific knowledge, technological innovation, industrial experience, and social
perspectives to address the contemporary challenges of decarbonization, energy
efficiency, and supply security. Moreover, the compiled research identifies emerging
trends, explores opportunities for international collaboration, and outlines work to
strengthen renewable energy in the context of sustainable development.
The editors express their gratitude to the authors, speakers, participants, and
collaborating entities that made this first international workshop possible. It is hoped
that these proceedings will help disseminate knowledge, strengthen academic and
professional networks, and promote innovative solutions for a just, efficient, and
globally relevant energy transition.
