Description
This study investigates the sociological effects of a synthetic “Leyla” profile generated by artificial intelligence (AI) within an adolescent peer network (27 subjects). In the experimental field study conducted on Instagram, it was determined that limited technical flaws in photographs increased the perception of trust (The Blur Paradox). While 55.6% of the participants accepted the profile as genuine, the rate of girls who suspected it was 40%, and for boys, it was 16.7%; this situation was coded as traditional “catfishing” rather than AI. The rate of those who directly realized the profile was an artificial intelligence product remained at 14.8%. The results reveal that adolescents rely on algorithmic recommendations rather than technical data during digital verification, and trust the peer legitimacy along with user name semiotics (private account perception).
