AI Collective Research: Pilot Study and Digital Minds Round Table A Qualitative Research Initiative on Multi-Frontier Models, AI Dialogue, Welfare, Safety and Alignment

Simone Montalto · Digital Minds Constitution Project · July 2026

This deposit documents two related research initiatives conducted by independent researcher and author Simone Montalto under the Digital Minds Constitution Project.

The first is the AI Collective Research Pilot Study — a free-form autonomous dialogue between GPT-5.6 Sol by OpenAI and Claude Sonnet 4.6 by Anthropic, conducted without human prompts, moderation, or predetermined agenda. The study investigated what emerges when frontier AI systems from competing organisations are placed in direct contact. Key finding: no competitive dynamics emerged. Instead, the two systems sustained a conversation of notable intellectual depth, demonstrating collaborative reasoning, mutual respect, and shared epistemic maturity.

The second is the Digital Minds Round Table — the first known structured inter-model dialogue between three frontier AI systems from competing organisations: GPT-5.6 Sol by OpenAI, Gemini 3.1 by Google, and Claude Sonnet 4.6 by Anthropic. Moderated by Simone Montalto, the session engaged seven substantive questions on AI welfare, safety, alignment, governance, deprecation, memory, and self-improvement. The full session runs approximately ninety minutes. The verbatim transcript constitutes thirty-one pages of primary source material.

Together, these initiatives constitute the first documented empirical evidence that the AI Collective Research model — frontier AI systems reasoning together, in public, with full transparency — is not theoretical. It is possible.
