Design, Development and Performance Analysis of Centrifugal Blower

Description
The performance of a centrifugal blower is highly dependent on the design of the impeller, particularly blade geometry and configuration. In this present study, the design, development, and experimental analysis of a centrifugal blower are carried out to evaluate the effect of different impeller types on blower performance. The experiments are conducted at constant rotational speed (RPM), casing size, impeller diameter, and blade inner diameter to ensure uniform testing conditions. Five different impeller configurations are considered as (i) Radial blades with 6 blades (6R), (ii) Backward inclined blades with 6 blades at 30° angle (30BI), (iii) Backward inclined blades with 6 blades at 60° angle (60BI), (iv) Forward inclined blades with 6 blades at 30° angle (30FI) and (v) Radial blades with 9 blades (9R). The performance of each impeller is evaluated based on volumetric flow rate, static pressure, input power, output power and efficiency. The experimental results show that blade orientation and number of blades significantly influence blower performance. Backward inclined blade with 30° angle provides higher efficiency and static pressure. Increasing the number of blades also affects flow characteristics and pressure distribution. The present study helps to identify the optimal impeller configuration to improve blower performance under given operating conditions.
