Description

Milenascopia tenuis Queiroz & Rafael, 2019

Examined material. Holotype ♂: “ Nogueira, Lago Tefé, Rio Solimões, 21.x.1975, Col— E. Vieira ” (INPA).

Diagnosis. Transverse sclerite thin, with anterior margin medially emarginated, posterior margin sinuous. Branch of lophi widened only at mesial margin, lateral margin curved. Hook of lophi in dorsal view is wide and slightly elongated, with apex having more than one acute projection. Ectophallic valves not projected posteriorly.

Description. This species is well described in Queiroz & Rafael (2019).

Comments. Milenascopia tenuis comb. nov. and Milenascopia vazferreirai comb. nov. can be differentiated from all others by the ectophallic valves not projecting. These two species can be differentiated from each other by the anterior margin of transverse sclerite, which is medially emarginated in Milenascopia tenuis comb. nov. and medially raised in Milenascopia vazferreirai comb. nov. Furthermore, the branch of lophi is mesially enlarged and the ectophallic valves are widened in the first species and both structures not enlarged in the latter.

Geographical records. BRAZIL, Amazonas, Tefé; Pará (Fig. 55).
