Media and Information Literacy in the Post-Factual Era I

In recent years, these challenges have become particularly visible in what many scholars describe as the post-factual or post-truth era, characterised by the growing influence of emotions, personal beliefs, and subjective interpretations on public discourse. In such an environment, media and information literacy, as well as critical thinking, have become essential competencies for citizens, educators, media professionals, and policymakers alike. Their development represents a prerequisite for informed participation in democratic societies and for strengthening resilience against manipulative and misleading forms of communication. These issues formed the central focus of the international scientific conference MEDIG 2025: Media and Information Literacy in the Post-Factual Era, organised by the Department of Journalism and New Media at the Faculty of Arts, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra on 15 October 2025.
