AGE-RELATED EXPRESSION OF CD63 AND ENDOTHELIAL WEIBEL–PALADE BODIES IN POSTOPERATIVE PULMONARY THROMBOEMBOLISM

Background. Endothelial activation is a key mechanism in the development of postoperative pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE). The expression of the lysosomal membrane glycoprotein CD63 reflects platelet activation, endothelial injury, and exocytosis of Weibel–Palade bodies containing von Willebrand factor (vWF) and P-selectin. However, age-related changes in CD63 expression during postoperative PTE remain insufficiently investigated.
