Description
This TREASURE deliverable, prepared under Task 6.2, examines the non-market benefits of Large Thermal Energy Storage (LTES) and their impact on willingness-to-pay among district heating customers and operators. Based on a literature review, SWOT analysis and two surveys, the report explores how factors such as cost, CO₂ savings, resilience, security of supply and visibility influence the acceptance of LTES. The results show statistically significant willingness-to-pay from customers and indicate that district heating operators recognise additional LTES benefits that may justify longer payback periods.
