This article discusses the development of cognitive linguistics, its object of study, and the role of cognition in linguistics. Cognition is explained as a complex process involving the reception, processing, storage, organization, and use of information. The article also emphasizes the importance of language in understanding reality, forming knowledge, and expressing it through speech. In addition, it examines how information received through verbal and extralinguistic means is represented in the human mind and explores the relationship between cognition and the process of knowing.
