Description

The CircleUp project aims to understand household behaviour and attitudes in the transition towards a
circular economy. The project has a particular focus on reducing waste related to four different domains;
food, textiles, electronics, and packaging.

This deliverable presents the training concept developed for the material efficiency advisors involved in the
CircleUp project. It reflects on the roles and tasks of the advisors and explains the rationale for developing a
handbook as the central training concept instrument. The training concept is designed to support material
efficiency advisors in carrying out their activitiesto a similar extent across all countriesinvolved in the project,
Germany, Latvia, Norway and the UK.

The material efficiency advisors act as key facilitators between the project and the participating households.
Through four household visits and by giving tailored support, the advisors motivate households to engage in
circular practices in their everyday lives.

In addition to supporting behavioural and attitudinal change among households, material efficiency advisors
contribute also to the evaluation of the CircleUp project. This includes supporting households in completing
longitudinal surveys conducted at four different time points and conducting individual and group interviews
with household members.

Given the importance and complexity of these tasks, a handbook for material efficiency advisors has been
developed as the main training tool in the project. The handbook is included as an appendix to this
deliverable.
