Emotional Data Model (EDM) v0.8.3
Description
The Emotional Data Model (EDM) v0.8.3 defines a governed, schema-bound representational architecture for encoding affective context as a stable, machine-interpretable data object. Unlike contemporary AI systems where emotional signals remain transient and architecture-bound, EDM externalises affective context into a structured manifold with explicit field definitions, in-band governance, and strict separation between representation, persistence, and computation layers. Artifacts are preserved within the .ddna envelope — a byte-stable container providing cryptographic integrity via W3C Data Integrity Proofs (eddsa-jcs-2022), sovereignty guarantees, and cross-vendor portability.
v0.8.3 is a truth-only patch release. The Full Profile composite schema gains meta.source_timestamp in its inline meta block, conforming to the canonical meta fragment (Full Profile: 91 fields); the field anchors an artifact temporally to the original experience rather than the extraction event, supporting both contemporaneous capture and declared retrospective enrichment. The narrative_archetype enumeration is corrected to the twelve canonical identity archetypes — the archetypal identity the subject embodies, not a structural role or literary trope. The whitepaper is regenerated from the enforcing schema so that document and machine agree. This release also folds v0.8.2, which shipped to npm (edm-spec@0.8.2) without a standalone document: nullable-enum reconciliation, the two-tier meta.profile model, and non-validating x-edm-canonical annotations carrying preferred canonical vocabulary on two-tier free-text fields; its changes are documented in the v0.8.1-to-v0.8.2 crosswalk and folded into this document. No fields are added, removed, or renamed relative to v0.8.2.
Certified conformance is available to Extended and Full Profile artifacts. Domain portability is formally specified: nine domains are portable across system boundaries; two domains are vendor-local (System, Extensions). The Zenodo publication lineage is unified under concept DOI 10.5281/zenodo.17808652. EDM addresses the representational deficit in current intelligent systems by transforming implicit emotional states into explicit, rights-bearing data objects capable of surviving across model generations, computational paradigms, and regulatory environments.
