AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF ACNE IN IMMUNOCOMPROMISED PATIENT - A CASE STUDY

Description

Mukhadushika(1) or acne is a common skin ailment , particularly among adolescents ,but it can affect people of any age. There are certain drugs like systemic or topical steroids , antiepileptics , antidepressants , antitubercular, antiviral drugs which induce acne(2) .This study aimed to assess the efficacy of Ayurvedic treatments in managing Mukhadushika due to systemic stroids which are used for 3 yrs for gout treatment. . A 59-year-old male patient suffering from pimples, pain, and related discomfort visited podar Hospital. Despite prior allopathic treatment, no relief was observed. Ayurvedic assessments revealed kaphsanchiti and dushti,medasanchiti ,vimarg gaman of vayu due to strotas avrodh and raktadushti. The treatment protocol consisted of mild shodhan,pachan,shaman and raktaprasadan . The results showed improvement in the patients symptoms, with the absence of papules and pustules , erythema and complete resolution of tenderness. The treatment approach, including the use of Chandrakala ras ,gandhak rasayan ,Sukshma triphala ,kaishor guggulu , kumbhjatu vati, kwath of rakta pachak and rakta prasadak Dravya along with kukkutnakhi lepa,nimba vasa bilva patra swaras proved effective without side effects.
