Digital Humanities in the Age of Algorithmic Confidence

Authors/Creators

Description

Slides for my keynote at the ATRIUM Summer School in Athens on 2 July 2026. The talk examined how changing media environments shape the ways in which knowledge is produced, trusted and interpreted, tracing a path from the “print mind” -- with its expectations of textual stability, citation and authority -- through the computational practices of digital humanities, to the contemporary condition of “algorithmic confidence,” in which fluent AI-generated outputs can appear authoritative without making their sources, uncertainties or assumptions visible.
