Occidental portal of Saint Peter and Saint Paul Church

The top part of this portal which is situated in the Church of Sain Peter and Saint Paul, illustrates the Ascension. Christ, enclosed in an almond shaped element, elevates his body over the Virgin Mary and the apostles. St. Peter can be recognised in the picture too. Studies have shown how the top and bottom part of the portal have been built in different ateliers from different sculptors. In fact, it is noticeable how the capital on the left has been reshaped to fit the head of an apostle on the top part of the portal.
