py4dgeo Tutorial Data Repository
Authors/Creators
Description
This archive contains the datasets and Jupyter notebooks required for the py4dgeo tutorial (https://3dgeo-heidelberg.github.io/py4dgeo-tutorial/). The downloaded bundle can be extracted and executed directly without further configuration.
Dataset sources and modifications:
-
Schneeferner data: Extracted from the hourly terrestrial laser scanning dataset of snow cover at the Schneeferner, Zugspitze (Anders et al., 2023; DOI: 10.1594/PANGAEA.941550).
-
Urban data: Synthetically generated spatial data derived from the Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland (AHN) dataset (CC0 1.0). The synthetic point cloud generation was performed using the HELIOS++ open-source 3D laser scanning simulation framework (Winiwarter et al., 2022; DOI: 10.1016/j.rse.2021.112772; https://github.com/3dgeo-heidelberg/helios)
-
Rockfall data: Part of the point cloud time series acquired by permanent laser scanning within the AImon5.0 project (Czerwonka-Schröder et al. 2026; DOI: 10.34657/31199). The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) was funding the AImon5.0 project within the funding measure "Digital GreenTech – Environmental Engineering meets Digitalisation" as part of the "Research for Sustainability (FONA) Strategy".
